President Obama wants to extend the Adoption Tax Credit for 2012
Under current law, the adoption tax credit is not refundable in 2012 or beyond and, beginning in 2013, would apply only to people who incur qualified adoption expenses in the process of adopting a child with special needs. However, President Obama’s fiscal year 2013 budget proposal would make the tax credit permanent for all adoption types, and maintain the maximum credit regardless of expenses for families who adopt children with special needs. In addition, the budget proposes making the adoption tax credit refundable for both 2012 and 2013.
Congress has not yet introduced legislation that would extend refundability of the credit, but NACAC is working to enlist members of Congress to sponsor such a bill and will alert our network as soon as there is legislation to lobby for.

Adoption Update 
Carrie Hunter from Houston Texas,,,,,I AM A SINGLE grandma trying to raise my grandsons on my income alone,,,,was Hoping to be able to utilize this refundable tax credit to buy them beds,that they have never had and a basketball goal,,along with clothing. PLEASE RECONSIDER MR.PRESIDENT…..
I adopted two little girls last year. I’ve had them since 2008. They are sisters. The oldest was ten months and the youngest was eleven days old when I took them in. They was up for adoption in 2012. I adopted them August 8 2012. They are now four and five..I am a single one income family who could use the refundable tax credit to help out. We could use another bedroom and bathroom.. I’m praying that the refundable tax credit will be included in the budget
For 2012 also. Please consider. This would be an answer to my prayer and Maybe Gods way of doing it……
