National Adoption Day 2008


I came across an article from The Wall Street Journal reviewed National Adoption Day 2008. More than 4,000 adoptions from foster care were finalized on November 15th. This is the 9th year that the Saturday before Thanksgiving (although this year it was moved back a week in respect to the 45th anniversary of the death of President JFK) has been celebrated as National Adoption Day. With this great news of 4,000 children placed with their forever families, we also remember those children who are still waiting. In the US alone, there are 129,000 children in the foster care system who are simply waiting to be adopted. National Adoption Day also brings awareness to these waiting children and helps to break down the wall of myths that surround them.
